ROLE PURPOSE

As the Specialist – Compliance at Space42, you will play a vital role in managing the company’s compliance-related initiatives and ensuring adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Reporting directly to the Compliance Director, you will work closely with various departments to foster a culture of compliance, developing and implementing compliance programs, conducting audits, and providing training to staff on compliance-related matters.

• Monitor and interpret regulations affecting publicly listed entities in the UAE, the aerospace industry, artificial intelligence, and related technologies, ensuring compliance with national and international laws.
• Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies and procedures that align with industry standards and best practices.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Participate in and support periodic internal audits to evaluate compliance with policies, recommending improvements as necessary.
• Keep informed of changes in regulations and industry best practices, advising management and relevant stakeholders on potential impact and necessary adjustments.
• Develop and keep up to date a legal register with applicable laws and regulations.
• Oversee and manage the employee conflict of interest and gift & entertainment disclosure process.
• Develop and maintain processes for insider list management.
• Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to enhance awareness and understanding of compliance obligations.
• Prepare and present compliance reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.
• Work closely with legal and compliance colleagues and business, operations and technical teams, being a trusted advisor for all compliance matters.
• Support interactions with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and external stakeholders.
• Stay updated on industry trends and changes in compliance management processes, making recommendations for continuous improvement of compliance processes.
• Recommend and implement technology to improve compliance processes.
• Ensure that all applicable transactions, including relevant documentation, are recorded in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Develop, implement and maintain process for compliance investigations, incident management, and whistleblowing.
• Manage the engagement of external consultants and advisors.   

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional certification in Compliance or Risk Management (e.g., ICA, CCEP, CRMP, CAMS)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, risk management, legal affairs, or regulatory roles within the space-tech or high-tech industry.
• Strong understanding of compliance frameworks as they relate to AI, space technology, and data privacy.
• Ability to analyze complex compliance issues and present solutions clearly and succinctly.
• Proficiency in compliance software and tools.
• High ethical standards and a commitment to fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Advanced degree (MBA or JD) is a plus.
• Experience in international compliance regulations and global trade compliance is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in dealing with regulatory agencies and ability to represent the company in compliance matters
• Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
• Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing technological and regulatory landscapes.
